About Me

Pink Sugar

My Story

I was born and raised in Syracuse, New York, to two parents who always asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. It was a big question for a little person, but as I've grown into a digital creator who has worn many, many hats, I've learned that "what" I want to be may change, but telling and sharing stories will always be my bottom line.

My journey started at a teen-hosted radio show called Teen Talk CNY where I first felt I was doing something that I loved. I then attended Onondaga Community College earning an Associate Degree in Radio, Television, and Film. To finish up my four-year degree, I studied Journalism and Rhetoric at Hofstra University. While at university, I had the amazing opportunity to lead Hofstra's chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists, pledge Zeta Phi Eta, and intern for BET and Local SWYR News Channel 9.

Once I received my Bachelor's from Hofstra University, I went on to work at VICE Media Group as an Editorial Assistant and Coordinator where I learned invaluable lessons about organization, perseverance, and fundamental skills of journalism.

While working full-time at VICE, two of my close friends and I started the Sufficiently Black Podcast. The podcast was my passion project and outlet, focusing on my journey navigating through the world as a young Black woman. Sufficiently Black was a pivotal part of my career. It reignited my love for hosting and has content that has received millions of views, likes, and shares.

In 2020, I started working for Thrillist.com as an Editorial Assistant. I then started doing voiceovers for video series like History of and became a staff writer for the website. After a short year as a writer, I transitioned to a Producer for the social video team. My journey at Thrillist has led me to produce and host both in-house and sponsored videos for names like Honda, Hilton, Jeep, DICE, Landing, and Disney.
